The New York Times columnist has a massive new book

We talk about all kinds of things, but lately we've been talking about what's coming up this fall. There's so much to choose from that we're pretty excited ourselves. Theater critic Judith Newmark consulted her colleagues and found that many of Robe cocktail this season's events are connected to each other.

Evan S. Benn, features reporter Science comes alive for kids and adults at the St. Louis Science Center's annual SciFestHermes Birkin, which combines cultural elements with cutting-edge technology. Among the more than 100 sessions planned for the six-day event: Members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will provide a live soundtrack to a planetarium show; earth-science professors and government weather forecasters will have a frank panel discussion about climate change; and experts will lead hands-on sessions about cheesemaking, the science of food and wine, and how to throw a perfect pitch. Tickets to the Extravaganza cocktail reception Oct. 15 include admission to all sessions.

Even the most ardent beer enthusiasts (and writers) have a hard time keeping up with that dizzying output. Time to catch up: At this year's Hop in the City party on the parking lot of Robe cocktail the Schlafly Tap Room,Jessica Alba, princesse de Venise sublimée en Valentino, brewery reps will be pouring samples of every one of those 40-some beer styles, plus one made just for the festival: a sweet-and-sour Flanders brown ale.
