Hermes to breed Birkin crocodiles

Reuters Global Luxury Summit in Paris, that the company has made plans for a crocodile farm in Australia. That's right, Hermes plans to make their own animal skin. This is no doubt a cost saving move for the luxury good company. Let's face it, in today's economy people are looking for a good value right? Victoria Beckham can't possibly be the only girl on earth who will have the means to purchase a Birkin in the future. So, cut the middle man, cut the cost and raise some eyebrows. This move will strike more than a little concern from animal rights activists, or anyone with a bleeding heart. It may also spearhead a trend for other manufacturers in the future, and why not, Kentucky Fried Chicken has been breeding their own bucket fulls for years (rumor has it).
No matter one's stance on the issue of furs, shark skin pants (I kid you not) or crocodile leather farms we can all safely agree that the fashion industry is not going to slow down. Designers will continue to attempt outdoing themselves and others. We can only expect the future to hold much more fabulous style and controversy. Right or wrong, that's for you to decide.
